Director Xin Yukun (b. Inner Mongolia Province, 1984) began to produce serial dramas for the local TV station in Xi'an in 2005 and took the one-year Advanced Photography Course at Beijing Film Academy in 2008. After graduation, Xin made a living in Beijing by shooting promotional videos and advertisements. After making several short fictional films, Xin made his feature-length debut The Coffin in the Mountain and won the Best Director and Best Feature Feature Film at the 8th FIRST Youth Film Festival. The film was nominated for the Best New Director and Best Original Screenplay Awards at the 51st Taiwan Film Golden Horse Awards and the Warsaw Prize at the 30th Warsaw Film Festival International Competition.
