Dr. Michael Stanley-Baker is an assistant professor at Nanyang Technological University, Singagpore. He is editor of the Routledge Handbook of Chinese Medicine and Situating Religion and Medicine in Asia. He is interested in the knowledge systems through which traditional Chinese medicine is delivered, both in the past and in the present, whether religions in early imperial China, or modern healthcare systems today. He is also PI of Polyglotasianmedicine.com, which links traditional Asian drug names, searchable manuscript collections, to modern botany, biodiversity and phytochemistry. As President of the International Association for the Study of Traditional Asian Medicine (IASTAM) he is interested in centring intellectual attention on the multi-disciplinary field of Asian medicines, bringing the sciences and humanities into closer conversation, and producing collaborative solutions to allow the better recognition and reception of Asian medicines.
